Two things that I left out of “The High Ground” in Uptown 101 in the March 30 issue:
1) The Uptown Historical Society, whose president John Holden kindly showed me as many of the neighborhood’s amazing sights as an afternoon would hold, and
2) The amazing number of films that have used the neighborhood as a setting. You can remedy the second omission by dropping by Novar Hall in Truman College, 1145 West Wilson at Broadway, at 1:30 PM Saturday. On the 75-minute bill: a cinematic tribute to the Uptown Theater and a compilation of classic movie scenes shot in the hood. A $6 donation is requested.
