Last month guitarist Nels Cline–who was an acclaimed jazz guitarist long before he joined Wilco in early 2004–released a solo album called Coward (Cryptogramophone).

To be honest I haven’t had a chance to listen to it yet, but thanks to an amusing “public service announcement” I’m aware that many copies of the disc have a minor physical defect in their packaging. (My copy turns out to be among them.)

I’ll let you find out what the deal is from Nels himself.

Today’s playlist:

Kenny Garrett, Sketches of MD: Live at the Iridium (Mack Avenue)
Matsuo Ohno, The World of Electro-Acoustic Sound and Music—3: Memory in the Beginning (King)
Bill Russo, The World of Alcina (Atlantic/Collectables)
Julieta Venegas, MTV Unplugged (Norte)
Claudette Soares, Você (EMI, Brasil)
