• Bradley Cooper in The Words

Brian Klugman and Lee Sternhal directed this prosaic melodrama that clumsily traverses three separate story lines: Bradley Cooper is a struggling writer who finds an old manuscript nestled in a vintage briefcase and sells it as his own work; Jeremy Irons is the writer of said manuscript, a WWII vet with a tragic past; and Dennis Quaid is a hotshot novelist who’s apparently written the above story. The premise is ambitious—if not a little hokey—but the meager themes of ephemeral authorship and constructed realities aren’t exactly revelatory.
