A reporter covering a farmers’ protest against U.S. rice imports in Pusan runs into his former lover who’s gotten hitched and gone straight in Kim Jong-Guk’s South Korean experimental feature Obbah: A Girl’s Older Brother.

The action plays out in a single 63-minute shot, with actors performing against the backdrop of the real protest. Kim’s debut feature won a special mention at the 2007 Vancouver International Film Festival, which called it “an extremely impressive formal experiment.”

Obbah screens tonight at 6 p.m. at the School of the Art Institute, 112 S. Michigan Ave., Room 1307.
