We wondered what happened last night at Graham Elliot when someone proverbially scratched the needle on the chef’s iPod during the intro to “Welcome to the Jungle” and restarted (ick) Pearl Jam’s “Even Flow,” as if to say “Easy, people. You’re not in the jungle. And we’re not in the weeds. Your honey-lavender chicken and spice krispie treats will arrive like butterflies.”

My review will arrive soon (along with L20), but for now let me say GE was behaving like a week-old restaurant rather than one approaching the month mark. In the meantime, I’d like you to kneel before the best thing we ate:

Maybe it isn’t fair to post a picture of leftovers, but this Hummer of a double-cut Berkshire pork chop was really good, with juicy, rosy flesh layered in a succulent blanket of fat. It sat atop some grits and collard greens, topped with a bit of barbecue sauce and a crunchy watermelon chutney. It’s really a stupidly excessive portion, but in spite of myself, I’ll enjoy eating it over the next three weeks.
