Last month, third-year Ryan Opera Center tenor Rene Barbera took Placido Domingo’s international Operalia competition by storm, landing a trio of awards, including first place and audience favorite. That was in Moscow, but you can catch him this weekend, along with fellow Ryan Center ensemble members and the Grant Park Orchestra, in two free performances at the Harris Theater for Music and Dance.
The program includes Mozart’s one-act The Impresario, narrated by Lyric Opera’s resident storyteller, Jack Zimmerman; Carlos Kalmar will conduct. It’s at 6:30 tonight and 7:30 Saturday at the Harris, 205 E. Randolph. The theater will open for seating 30 minutes before curtain.
