I don’t know if new White Sox manager Robin Ventura was thinking of the team’s home opener when he pegged Jake Peavy as his number two starter behind John Danks, but if so he’s already showing signs of genius.
Given the plum assignment of starting the team’s first home game, Peavy, the former National League Cy Young Award winner who has been little but injured since joining the Sox three years ago, looked every inch the ace he’d like to return to being as he tamed the Detroit Tigers for a 5-2 win.
