We’re coming up on the noon hour, when Pitchfork Music Festival tickets will go on sale. Though the whole festival lineup has yet to be announced, some of the big boys have already been made public, including the Jesus Lizard (this excites me to no end), Built to Spill, Tortoise, and Yo La Tengo on Friday, July 17. The new Friday-night theme (in the past, with “Don’t Look Back,” a band performed a classic album in its entirety) is “Write the Night”: advance ticket purchasers will get to vote for the songs they want to hear.
Other announced bands include the National, Pharoahe Monch, and the Pains of Being Pure at Heart on Saturday, July 18, and Grizzly Bear, the Walkmen, and the Vivian Girls on Sunday, July 19.
The festival, happening in Union Park again this year, tends to sell out, so you might want to get on it.
