In 2004, British activists Smash EDO launched a pot-banging campaign outside a factory owned by New York military supplier EDO Corp (since acquired by Virginia’s ITT Defense Electronics and Services) to protest EDO’s manufacture of weapons employed in the Iraq war. Five years later, after street confrontations and court battles, the protests continue every Wednesday outside the Brighton EDO plant.

SchNEWS’s On the Verge: The Smash EDO Campaign headlines the opening night of the ninth annual Chicago Anarchist Film Festival, which starts tomorrow and runs through Sunday, 7-10 PM each night, at Jane Addams Hull House Museum, 800 S. Halsted. Admission is $10 or pay what you can.
