Neil Tobin’s one-man show Supernatural Chicago was put to rest in February after a ten-year run, but he couldn’t resist resurrecting it for October. The interactive act blends tales of the paranormal with magic demonstrations in one of the city’s most storied haunts, Castle.

Lagunitas’ founder Tony Magee wrote the book on starting a brewery. Well, he wrote a book. He’s stopping by City Lit Books today to discuss So You Want to Start a Brewery?: The Lagunitas Story.

Art-pop composer, bassist, and bandleader Matt Ulery teams up with contemporary music sextet Eighth Blackbird for a special performance at Constellation tonight. In Soundboard Peter Margasak writes of Ulery’s latest album, In the Ivory, “Spread over two discs, the 80-minute suite flows with extravagant elegance, from the intimate chamberlike pieces to the beautiful vocal work to the heart-racing pulse of his minimalist compositions whose concentric phrases spin with giddy centrifugal force.”
