Looking for something to do today? Agenda‘s got you covered:
Eve Ensler is best known as the playwright behind The Vagina Monologues. But she didn’t always love her body. Tonight at the Swedish American Museum, Ensler reads from her new memoir, In the Body of the World, in which she recounts how she came to be aware of the importance of the female body and its connection to politics and the health of the planet.
Thus far, Dock 6—a collective of designers, furniture makers, and fabricators—has hosted four installments of its biannual open house. The fifth, Dock 6 Design and Art 5, is shaping up (woodworking pun) to be the best yet. Expect new work and art from 20 artists and design firms—plus a photo booth, snow cones, music, and drinks from Weegee’s at Dock 6 Collective.
It’s said that moonlight makes everything magical, but Opera-Matic—led by Mucca Pazza founder Mark Messing—leaves nothing to chance. With the help of shadow puppets, light sculptures, and lullabies, a pair of performances will reveal the fantastical creatures that live in and around Humboldt Park.
