Blackbird’s Dana Cree, Fat Rice’s Abraham Conlon, and Takashi’s Courtney Joseph are just a few of the 19 chefs slated to participate in our second annual Key Ingredient Cook-Off challenge. All will be asked to cook with one of five ingredients previously used in our biweekly Key Ingredient series. Tonight though, you can taste and vote for the winning dishes yourself while sipping complimentary craft beer, wine, and cocktails. Tickets are still available here.
Studs Terkel spent his life letting Chicagoans tell their stories on the page and through the airwaves. Now his own legacy will be the focus of Let’s Get Working, a three-day festival jam-packed with workshops, screenings, performances, and more. It all starts tonight with an opening reception at the Logan Center for the Arts hosted by the Chicago Tribune’s Rick Kogan and featuring music by the Old Town School of Folk Music’s Mark Dvorak.
The Scottish hip-hop group Young Fathers is fresh off the release of their debut album Dead, a record that our Leor Galil says sometimes “sounds like it was recorded in the bowels of a cave with a xylophone, a synthesizer, a modest collection of cymbals, and a small choir.” They open for the Los Angeles electronic act Baths tonight at Concord Music Hall.
