- Garifuna Collective
Looking for something to do today? Agenda‘s got you covered:
Belizean singer Andy Palacio’s 2007 album Watina helped popularize the musical culture of the Garifuna (people of West African, Arawak, and Carib descent). Though Palacio passed away the next year, the Garifuna Collective—musicians he worked with on the album—continue the crusade. Catch them tonight at Old Town School.
Make Music Chicago’s goal is to fill, for one day, as much of the city’s public space with music as possible. That day has come. Professional and amateur musicians alike blanket the streets, and a three-stage street party closes out the celebration at St. James Commons.
At Garfield Park Conservatory tonight, the Golden Horse Ranch Band soundtracks an evening of square dancing, family, and beer. Ten-gallon hats are optional.
