- Fernet-Branca Barback Games
Looking for something to do today? Agenda‘s got you covered.
The Fernet-Branca Barback Games promise guts, glory, music, and fun. Barbacks from all over the city assemble at Thalia Hall to compete in a series of rigorous challenges and alcohol-related obstacle courses. The winner gets eternal glory and the title of Chicago’s best barback.
Get your jazz hands ready, because Broadway in Chicago is putting on a free summer concert in Millennium Park tonight. Cast members from Broadway in Chicago productions like Amazing Grace, Annie, Kinky Boots, and Disney’s Newsies perform select scenes from their shows at Pritzker Pavilion.
“Anything Could Happen” tonight when legendary indie band the Clean performs at Lincoln Hall. The New Zealand trio hasn’t come out with any new tunes since 2009’s Mister Pop, but their tour coincides with a reissue of Anthology, a four-LP collection of work from 1981 to 1996. “Whether the Clean play any new songs or not, video evidence from their gigs this winter suggests that even their performances of 35-year-old warhorses such as ‘Point That Thing Somewhere Else’ take nothing for granted,” says Reader contributor Bill Meyer. Brazilian band Boogarins is opening.
