The Colbert Report‘s Nick Prueher and the Onion‘s Joe Pickett present the midwest’s funniest VHS tapes at Found Footage Festival’s Best of the Midwest. The event, to be held at Music Box, is part of the Brooklyn Brewery Mash, which benefits Slow Food Chicago.
Veteran musician Charlie Wilson plays the Allstate Arena. The Reader‘s Miles Raymer says his guest performance on Kanye West’s “Bound 2” is “among the most gravity-defying performances of 2013.” Chaka Khan, Robin Thicke, and Bell Biv Devoe open.
Tokyo four-piece band Toe plays Beat Kitchen tonight. Since the band’s 2000 formation, the Reader‘s Leor Galil says, “they’ve been playing a gorgeous, largely instrumental hybrid of postrock and emo with complex, interlocking guitar patterns indebted to the various bands on the Kinsella family tree.” CSTVT and Victor Villarreal open.
