Looking for something to do today? Agenda‘s got you covered.
Chicago celebrates this year’s Global Cannabis March with a gathering at Daley Plaza, where speakers Dan Linn of Illinois NORML and Nicki Serbin, a Democratic state-rep candidate from Mokena, discuss Illinois’s medical marijuana program and the progress of drug reform across the country. The rally also features music from Illuminati Congo and reggae band the Concrete Roots.
The Kids and Kites Festival at Cricket Hill invites families to become masters of the sky—with help from a few kite-flying professionals—using everything from small paper kites to giant aerial dragons. Stick around for face painting, balloon artists, crafts, and the Big Kite Candy Drop, which is exactly what it sounds like.
The enigmatic band Bladerunner plays Reggie’s Rock Club tonight. The band has never released an album and allegedly tends to improvise its sets, but Monica Kendrick writes that it “harkens back a bit to [John] Zorn’s Naked City days, as well as to Painkiller, the early-90s trio where he played with Laswell and former Napalm Death drummer Mick Harris—and the saxophonist’s ability to bend fire with sound has continued to grow since then.”
