Owls

Looking for something to do today? Agenda‘s got you covered.

Summer’s halfway over, but street festivals are still going strong. This weekend Milwaukee Avenue will be taken over with food, art, and three stages of music for Wicker Park Fest. Tonight’s headliners include Reverend Horton Heat, RJD2, and Owls, whose new album the Reader’s Kevin Warwick describes as “rigorous, mathy indie rock.”

Lil Suzy, Stevie B, and Brenda K. Starr are just a few of the names dishing glitz and hits at the History of Freestyle. The cast will pay homage to the dance-pop genre (which flourished in Latino communities in 1980s New York) by knocking the dust off cuts like “Party Your Body” and a remake of “Turn the Beat Around.”

Local favorites Rabble Rabble and the Lemons, voted Best Throwback Pop Band That’s Sweeter Than Its Name in our 2014 Best of Chicago issue, play tonight at the Double Door with Jeff the Brotherhood.
