What do Beethoven and Wilco have in common? Besides producing music? Glenn Kotche! The Wilco drummer composed a new percussion piece inspired by Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony; it’ll be making its world premiere this afternoon as part of “Exploding 5en5e5” at the ambitious and expansive Beethoven Festival: Love 2013
Not in the mood for classical? LA duo No Age takes the stage at Empty Bottle after releasing their fourth album, An Object, last month. Despite having only two members, the Reader‘s Tal Rosenberg says, “they energize their audiences more than just about any other band in America.” Joan of Arc, Club Nutz, and DJ Juiceboxxx open.
Lincoln Hall hosts the Chicago Bacon Takedown, in which 20 amateur chefs are given 15 pounds bacon and tasked with cooking up a unique dish. Attendees get to sample the results.
