• “Catch Your Breath”

Looking for something to do today? Agenda‘s got you covered.

Way behind on your holiday shopping? Christkindlmarket, Randolph Street’s Holiday Market, the Bucktown Holiday Art Show, and the Irish Christmas Market are just some of the places you can stop by today. If you’re not feeling these, take a look at the Reader‘s holiday calendar for more markets where you can find presents for your loved ones—or for yourself.

Two medium-length documentaries by director John Akomfrah—Seven Songs for Malcolm X and The Last Angel of History—screen at Black Cinema House today. Read Ben Sachs’s essay about these films.

Tonight’s your last chance to see “Catch Your Breath,” a dance showcase that includes a piece by Co’Motion Dance Theater incorporating time-delay videos of the performance while it’s happening. Jena Cutie writes that “the tangle of video cameras, projections, and spotlights makes a point about methodology: the dancers, like the equipment, are also instruments, each assigned one line in the choreographer’s score.” See it at Constellation’s Links Hall.
