Looking for something to do today? Agenda’s got you covered:

Every year, people experience extreme physical discomfort and very, very hard nipples by jumping into Lake Michigan in the middle of winter. At least those doing it at the Chicago Polar Plunge are doing it for a good cause. Check them out at North Avenue Beach.

Bitchin’ Purge, an evening of “real Chicago service industry people telling bizarre stories about even more bizarre customers,” goes down at Jerry’s, with an appearance from local comedian Danny Kallas. Steve Shields hosts.

“Lately British pianist Paul Lewis has devoted his energies to the piano music of Franz Schubert, specifically solo works from between 1822 and 1828, when the composer died at age 31,” writes Peter Margasak—who recommends checking out Lewis’ performance at the Symphony Center today.
