Architectural Artifacts’ second annual auction is the place to bid on the antique furniture and esoteric decorative items of your wildest dreams. Some examples of what’s up for grabs: twin seats from a Pullman railcar, an iron wall sconce from midcentury France, and an art nouveau iron panel from the 1893 Chicago World’s Fair. Get your bidding arm nice and loose.

Celebrate all that is cycling with free bike checkups from BFF Bikes, tips and tutorials from Comfy Fitness and the Chainlink, and nosh from Revolution Brewing, the Goddess and Grocer, Dark Matter Coffee, and more at I Like Bike. Comfy Fitness hosts the event.

Through he left Chicago behind in 2009 to pursue a doctorate in composition at the University of Cincinnati, Dave McDonnell has remained very much involved in the local music scene. After serving as composer for sextet Herculaneum, he’s back in the spotlight with the Dave McDonnell Quartet, Peter Margasak writes in Soundboard. The quartet plays at the Hungry Brain tonight.
