Looking for something to do today? Agenda‘s got you covered:
Peruse botanic-themed and botanic-made paintings, jewelry, ceramics, and more at the Chicago Botanic Garden Art Festival on the esplanade. There are more than 100 participating artists.
Hie thee to Kenosha, Wisconsin, where the Bristol Renaissance Faire kicked off this weekend. Make ye merrie with jousters, sword fighters, acrobats, and wand’ring minstrels. Totally worth the 50-minute drive (or the three-hour ride on ye faithful steed).
Today is the last day to visit “AfriCOBRA: Prologue” at the South Side Community Arts Center, the first of a three-part exhibition examining the formation and history of the African-American artist collective founded in Chicago in the 1960s. The show features paintings from Archibald J. Motley, chromatic screenprints from Barbara Jones-Hogu, and a stunning impressionistic Alonzo Parham rendering of Tommie Smith’s and John Carlos’s iconic raised fists at the 1968 Olympics.
