Twenty cooks. Fifteen pounds of Hormel Black Label bacon. This is the recipe for today’s fourth annual Bacon Takedown at Lincoln Hall. Guests can try all the bacon creations and compete for cookware, a year’s supply of bacon, among other prizes.
Another food-based challenge is the Chicago Bloody Mary Competition, hosted today at Lincoln Park’s Park West. Attendees can sample Bloody Marys from bars and restaurants across the city and vote for their favorites. Other Sunday Funday favorites like mimosa and bellinis are also on hand. Bottoms up!
Cabdriver-turned-writer-illustrator Dmitry Samarov hosts a release party for his new book Where To?: A Hack Memoir at Ukrainian Village’s Rainbo Club today. A Reader best bet for fall lit, Where To? provides a street-level view of Chicago from within Samarov’s cab.
