Chicago-theater-scene veteran Nick Offerman heads to the Chicago Theatre with his American Ham Tour, which is slated to include “songs and woodworking tips with minor nudity.”
University of Chicago’s Smart Museum of Art kicks off its At The Threshold series with a talk by Constance Lewallen and Karen Moss, curators of the exhibition “State of Mind: New California Art Circa 1970.” The evening will also feature work by Interpreter in Residence Matt Austin, a letter-writing project organized by Codi Ann Thomsen and Hutch Hutchinson, and a performance by DJ David Lucas Bell.
The Pamphleteers—bassist-vocalist Rebecca Crawford, guitarist Jonathan Ben-Isvy, and drummer Geoff Atkinson—play the Hideout tonight. Monica Kendrick calls them “bouncy but with a darkling edge, like the B-52s on a heavy trip.” Blasted Diplomats and Flesh Panthers open.
