Columbia College’s Story Week comes to a close tomorrow, but not before Chicago’s literati gather onstage tonight. Literary Rock and Roll features readings by Preston L. Allen, Christine Sneed, and Eric Charles May—each focused on the theme “DiverCity-Urban Stories.” The night includes a special tribute to the late poet David Hernandez; the band he cofounded, Street Sounds, will play while his poems are performed aloud.

Watch the hockey pros of the future compete at United Center tonight in the Illinois State High School Hockey Championships. The top teams from around Illinois compete in three contests: the Illinois Girls’ State Championship, the Boys’ Red Division State Championship, and the Boys’ Combined Division State Championship.

Chicago Opera Theater, in a coproduction with Long Beach Opera, presents Duke Ellington’s “street opera,” Queenie Pie. This version incorporates Ellington classics like “Black Butterfly” to fill out the work, which was unfinished at the time of the composer’s death. The performances, at the Harris Theater, feature the Chicago Jazz Orchestra.
