Looking for something to do today? Agenda‘s got you covered.

It’s again time to pay tribute to Ziggy Stardust at the Bowie Ball, hosted by Berlin. Chris Connelly and Robert Byrne play the tunes of the Thin White Duke, and makeup artists and stylists will be on hand to glitz out your ensemble. And don’t think the party stops tonight, because tickets to the MCA’s much-hyped “David Bowie Is” exhibit in September are now available.

Last summer the CSO performed the complete score to Peter Jackson’s The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers, so it’s only fitting that the orchestra complete the trilogy tonight with The Return of the King. The action unfolds at Ravinia.

In the mood for something a little less orchestral? Local rockers Shapers perform at Burlington. Their album “Little, Big is a sweet heap of artful krautrock (Neu! and Cluster are clear influences) with occasional fitful vocals, and its nine songs cover an interstellar range,” wrote former Reader contributor Jessica Hopper in 2010.
