  • . . . And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead

Looking for something to do today? Agenda‘s got you covered.

Thus begins the dawn of a new era. An era in which, on the first Tuesday of every month, Chicago Reader writers Ben Joravsky and Mick Dumke are given a stage at the Hideout to talk city politics—and whatever the hell else they feel needs a takedown, like the Cubs. It’ll mostly be politics (and marijuana). The inaugural show’s guests are aldermen Scott Waguespack and Proco Joe Moreno, as well as recently retired alderman Dick Mell.

Alt-rockers . . . And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead are stopping by the Empty Bottle tonight to play their 2002 album, Source Tags & Codes, in its entirety.

The Chicago Bacon Fest hosts a Kickoff Cocktail Party tonight at the Berkshire Room in anticipation of the forthcoming expo that’s dedicated to everyone’s favorite breakfast (and lunch and dinner) food. Partake in exclusive baconesque drinks from the likes of Danny Shapiro and Benjamin Schiller, appetizers from chef Chris Davies, and, for whatever reason, a “frosty can of Labatt Blue.”
