Looking for something to do today? Agenda‘s got you covered.

Deadheads rejoice: the Jerry Garcia Symphonic Celebration takes tunes from his extensive catalog and gives them an orchestral setting tonight at the Chicago Theatre. Warren Haynes (Allman Brothers Band, Gov’t Mule) stands in as vocalist, Jeff Sipe and Lincoln Schleifer round out the rhythm section, and an entire symphony orchestra takes care of the rest.

There are eight rules of Write Club—and none of them involves not talking about it. Tonight at the Hideout two local scribes will pen opposing compositions on a single topic, and the audience chooses a winner.

Improvising trio Nazoranai makes its Chicago debut at the Empty Bottle tonight. In Soundboard Peter Margasak writes, “What makes the music more than just a crushing assault is its use of space and rising-and-falling tension, which Haino controls by judiciously applying harrowing, slate-gray shards of high-volume guitar and mind-melting vocals that tend toward wordless barks and shrieks.”
