Looking for something to do today? Agenda‘s got you covered:
It’s nice to hear about something going on in a Chicago park that doesn’t involve guns or weed (or both). Now in its fifth year, Dance in the Parks brings professional dance performances to “artistically underserved neighborhoods.” Tonight they stop by Austin Town Hall Park, partnering with youth dancers from neighborhood studio TranscenDANCE.
“Late last year, when the world at large became aware of Atlanta rapper Trinidad James, it seemed like just minutes before he was accused of everything from destroying hip-hop to single-handedly reviving the institution,” writes Miles Raymer in Soundboard. Catch James tonight at First Midwest Bank Amphitheatre as part of a bill that also includes Wiz Khalifa, A$AP Rocky, B.O.B., Joey Bada$$, and more.
Cal Schenkel is the absurdist genius behind many of Frank Zappa’s album covers, as well as the iconic art for Captain Beefheart’s Trout Mask Replica. Schenkel has since extended his surrealist visions into painting, animation, and even production design. Check out his show at Firecat Projects.
