Third Coast Percussion

Looking for something to do today? Agenda‘s got you covered.

Experience what Peter Margasak calls the “ideal way to leave the workday behind” when Third Coast Percussion takes on Steve Reich’s Sextet as part of the Rush Hour Concert series. The 28-minute piece is “airy in sound but dense in ideas.” Third Coast will be joined by keyboardists Amy Briggs and Daniel Schlosberg.

Tonight the Gene Siskel Film Center screens Eric Rohmer’s minimalist romance A Summer’s Tale. Ben Sachs writes, “With just two actors, a crew of six, and a hillside trail overlooking a beach, Rohmer creates a sequence of sly humor, slow-burning eroticism, and timeless behavioral insight.”

Summer will soon be but a distant memory, so enjoy its last days with one of the sun-shiniest bands of all. Classic surf rockers the Beach Boys play at the Ravinia Festival tonight, and if that’s not enough nostalgia for you, they’ll be joined by the Temptations.
