  • The Night of the Hunter

Looking for something to do today? Agenda‘s got you covered:

At the Portage Theater, the Northwest Chicago Film Society screens the “oddball holiday classic” The Night of the Hunter, which stars Robert Mitchum in a career-defining role as a maniacal preacher. Also on the bill: the 1934 Christmas cartoon Holiday Land.

Bulls fans anticipating the triumphant, albeit beleaguered, return of Derrick Rose can turn to Kent McDill for a distraction when he stops by Barbara’s Bookstore to promote his book 100 Things Bulls Fans Should Know and Do Before They Die.

Congo Square Theatre presents The Nativity, its staging of Langston Hughes’s Black Nativity, currently in production at Kennedy-King College Theatre—Laura Molzahn says, “Director Ilesa Duncan accentuates the humor and vernacular ease of [McKinley] Johnson’s script; she’s also particularly good at evoking the strong sense of community among the women characters.”
