“August Wilson likes to paint a wide canvas, peopling it with so many detailed portraits that you’d be forgiven for forgetting who the protagonist is,” says Reader contributor Jack Helbig about Wilson’s 1995 play Seven Guitars. Showing at Court Theatre, the play features seven such “carefully wrought” characters, a flawed bluesman, and six people in his orbit.

Local crafter Steff Bomb—a repeated winner of “Best Indie Crafter” in the Reader‘s Best of Chicago readers’ poll—conducts a plush-toy sewing workshop. Presented by Chicago Makes, the workshop at Sew Crafty Studio will give you the chance to learn how to sew a piece of cake—and eat cake, too! Register at info@sewcraftystudio.com.

Miles Raymer says “F.D.B.,” the lead single off of hip-hop artist Young Dro’s album, High Times, “allows Dro to turn a radically stripped-down trap-style beat into an arena-worthy anthem.” See the artist perform tonight at Reggie’s Rock Club. A-Rrey and C-Streetz open.
