Looking for something to do today? Agenda‘s got you covered.

Tonight is opening night of the Chicago Nerd Comedy Festival, a celebration of all things dorky and funny, at Stage 773. The fest features sketch groups Improvised Jane Austen and the Nerdologues, as well as an evening of stand-up hosted by Cody Melcher and a performance by Plan 9 Burlesque. Tonight’s show is entitled “The Best of Hey, I’m A Big Fan: A Night Of Fan Fiction Readings.”

Soiree Grand Nord, an exhibition of photos of the Canadian arctic and its inhabitants, takes place tonight as part of Alliance Francaise’s Festival de la Francophonie 2014. Professor Peter Harrison of Queen’s University discusses the work.

Fonema Consort performs pieces including “Singing Instruments” tonight in Berger Park. It’s an appropriate title for this work, as it explores the human-voicelike qualities of various instruments. Reader writer Peter Margasak praises the ensemble for its “focus on vocal work—challenging, forward-looking vocal work.”
