Looking for something to do today? Agenda‘s got you covered:
Friends, it’s here, that time of year we approach with both awe and dread, when thousands storm our lakefront so they can stuff their gullets and listen to music, when the signs of our ultimate doom are writ in fireworks . . . the Taste of Chicago begins. This year Robert Plant, Fun., Robin Thicke, and Jill Scott perform.
Even though it’s utterly skill-less, there’s something satisfying about winning a game of bingo. Winning Veggie Bingo, hosted by the Hideout, is especially satisfying if you like vegetables—and helping Chicago get a little greener. The grand prize? Fresh produce from Irv & Shelly’s Fresh Picks.
At the Wellington Avenue United Church of Christ, Timeline Theatre Company presents a production of J.T. Rogers’s Blood and Gifts, a political drama about U.S. involvement in the Russian-Afghan war. “While the second act loses some urgency—the action moves from shell-shocked Pakistan to buttoned-down D.C.—Timeline Theatre Company’s swift, cunningly designed production is always engaging,” writes critic Justin Hayford.
