Tonight’s your chance to check out the winner of the Reader‘s Best of Chicago Best Midweek Burlesque Break, the No-Tell. The entertainment is plentiful while the clothing is minimal at this unique spectacle. Reader contributor Jay Gentile writes that the “hump-day party features pyrotechnics and dancers humping power sanders.”
Fat Girl holds the Gold Hugo for Best Film at the 37th Chicago International Film Festival—and when it’s playing free in the park you can’t go wrong. In her review the Reader’s Meredith Brody writes, “(director) Catherine Breillat delivers another meditation on adolescent female sexuality.”
Tonight the Empty Bottle features a trio of rock groups: Fresh & Onlys, Shilohs, and Gravity Waves. The Fresh & Onlys, a San Francisco-based group, headlines with their evolving sound. Peter Margasak writes, “These days they let each dreamy melody from front man Tim Cohen take on whatever stylistic mode best suits it.”
