This long Fourth of July weekend is being properly celebrated with FitzGerald’s American Music Festival. The four-day fest will host 40 bands on three stages and includes favorites like Joe Ely, Alejandro Escovedo, Marcia Ball, and Robbie Fulks. There will also be barbecue.
On Wednesday nights the Hideout’s Veggie Bingo offers players a chance to win prizes and help contribute money to Chicago’s community gardens. Players can win veggies, baked goods, sauces, and more. The game is open to all ages, and hot dogs are provided courtesy of Hot Doug’s.
Human Feel performs tonight for the first time in Chicago at Constellation. The group, formed in 1987, will feature much of its work from the new album, Experience the Experience. The Reader‘s Peter Margasak writes, “As always, the music is graceful and poised but at the same time boisterous and rude—few bands can find such a perfect sweet spot between those polar opposites.”
