  • Brian Babylon hosts the Bronzeville Comedy showcase

Looking for something to do today? Agenda‘s got you covered.

Tonight at the Bronzeville Comedy Showcase, Brian Babylon hosts a group of talented comics, as he’s been doing all summer. The show’s growing popularity has led to a venue change—you can now check it out at Blanc Gallery—as more and more Chicagoans continue to come out.

If you enjoy having nightmares, the Horror Short Film Showcase should be able to help you out. The Little Mexico Film Festival wraps up this week with three short, terrifying films: Hell’s Belles, Bautizo, and The Breeder.

In advance of her Lolla debut, the soft-voiced Courtney Barnett plays Schubas tonight. “[Barnett] propels last year’s impressive The Double EP: A Sea of Split Peas (Marathon Artists) with her scrappy, post-Velvet Underground guitar, which alternates between rudimentary rock ‘n’ roll riffs (such as the Chicago blues lick in ‘David’) and hypnotic swirling (‘Porcelain’),” writes Peter Margasak.
