In case you haven’t seen it already, legendary hardcore front man Sam McPheeters (Born Against, Men’s Recovery Project) recently wrote a profile of legendary hardcore front man Doc Dart for Vice magazine. Like most of Sam’s work, both in music and in print, it’s brilliant and thought-provoking and pretty much flawless.
Once Dart was a provocateur nonpareil and the mastermind behind the Crucifucks, who still stand as one of the few positive contributions Lansing, Michigan, has made to music. Now he goes by the name “26,” doesn’t swear, and spends almost all of his time in a windowless house, as cut off from the goings-on of history as he can keep himself. It’s a deep, weird story, and one of the best pieces of music journalism I’ve read in ages.
