Tomorrow night at 7 PM the Nightingale will present It’s a Living, a 1975 TV documentary inspired by the great Studs Terkel’s Working. Described by the programmers as “a classic of guerrilla television,” this features bull sessions with six gregarious working people, one of them being Terkel himself. Also playing is the ten-minute short Studs Terkel with Nelson Algren, also shot in 1975, which depicts the two Chicago writers in conversation. Admission is free.
The program is part of an ongoing series of Terkel-related screenings that began last weekend at the Chicago History Museum. On Sunday, June 17, the festivities will continue at the Chicago Cultural Center with short documentaries screening throughout the day.
