Over the last week you may have noticed the rather unhappy-looking duck on the left side of this Web site. That’s an ad taken out by PETA, here and in other media outlets, getting sweaty over Mayor Daley’s words indicating his plans to squash the foie gras ban, which the group calls “one of the most important animal protection laws ever.”

The Illinois Restaurant Association’s lawsuit against the legality of the foie gras ban has been dismissed. Frankly I’d forgotten all about it amid the din of our elected representatives’ more entertaining expectorations on the subject.

So it seems the first and last battleground will be City Council.
