SAIC Fashion Chair Nick Cave in Vogue

The September issue of Vogue, which hits newsstands today, features an eight-page spread of Nick Cave, chair of the School of the Art Institute’s Fashion Department, in a variety of his Soundsuits—full-body outfits that on first glance look like a cross between a Muppet and Mummenschanz. Constructed of materials that include human hair, buttons, toys, and flea-market finds, they make “unusual sounds” and can be displayed as sculpture or worn by dancers or performers.
