UIC kicks off Asian American Awareness Month with today’s screening of Deborah Gee’s Slaying the Dragon.  The 1988 TV documentary tackles American cinema’s exoticized images of Asian and Asian American women since Anna May Wong’s original “dragon lady.”  Slaying the Dragon includes clips from more than 20 pictures including The Deer Hunter, Rambo: First Blood Part II, and Flash Gordon Conquers the Universe. The screening is 3-4 PM at UIC’s Lecture Center B1, 803 S. Morgan St.
