• Eleanor Friedberger

Danish saxophonist Lotte Anker, who turned in a stellar performance on Sunday night at the Hungry Brain in a trio with pianist Craig Taborn and drummer Gerald Cleaver, has picked up a last-minute gig tonight at the Hideout. She’ll improve an already strong bill, opening for Joe McPhee’s Survival Research Unit III (with cellist Fred Lonberg-Holm and drummer Michael Zerang).

Oak Park native (and longtime voice of the Fiery Furances) Eleanor Friedberger played a solo set in July at the Hideout in support of her debut, Last Summer (Merge), and the following day she did an in-store at Saki. Thanks to the shop’s partnership with rebooted online music retailer Epitonic, that charming set is now available for free download. Friedberger will be return to town October 29, when she plays Subterranean.
