  • Ken “Hawk” Harrelson: Never mind the error, it is still early.

I still believe the White Sox are going to be more competitive than the Cubs this season, but you wouldn’t know it from today’s exhibition game at Camelback Ranch in Glendale, Arizona.

The host Sox started their A team, including freshly converted starter Chris Sale. The Cubs went mostly with youngsters. Both teams scored in the first inning, but after that it was all Cubs, with number-nine hitter Edgar Gonzalez mashing a two-out, two-run homer off Sale, followed by solo shots from Marlon Byrd and Steve Clevenger off Sox reliever Nathan Jones. The final was 5-1, as the Cubs drew (admittedly weak) first blood in the crosstown rivalry.
