Cannibal Corpse have been a band since the late 80s, and when I had the opportunity to interview them at a festival a couple of years ago, I discovered that in person they’re more like someone’s chill stoner uncles than they are the types of people you’d expect to name their songs “Hammer Smashed Face” and “I Cum Blood.” (Lead singer George “Corpsegrinder” Fisher spent the weekend in his hotel room playing World of Warcraft instead of partying with the rest of the bands, which is kind of badass in its own way.) But they closed the festival with what remains one of the most impressively brutal metal sets I’ve ever seen in my life.
