Street View is a fashion series in which Isa Giallorenzo spotlights some of the coolest styles seen in Chicago.

Last Friday the School of the Art Institute celebrated the 80th anniversary of its fashion department, one of the oldest in the country. I’m always very impressed by their students’ creations, which range from wearable to wacky, but never boring or tacky—hey, that rhymed. Because it’s a fashion department within an art school, students are encouraged to think like artists and create their collections as such.
Amid a sea of innovators, Huijun June Li came up with my favorite look: quirky, chic, and sweet, qualities that rarely coexist in the same outfit. I also really enjoyed Symantha Perrera’s modern Technicolor dream and Amanda Vaeth’s extreme color blocking. See their designs and some more of my favorites after the jump. And stay tuned for the actual street-style shots of this event—they’re coming soon!
