Street View is a fashion series in which Isa Giallorenzo spotlights some of the coolest styles seen in Chicago.
For me, great fashion comes with the balance of two extremes. It’s not a boring, lackluster equilibrium, but a bold one. Bold because you’re mixing elements most people wouldn’t think of putting together, creating unexpected combinations. Take Kristin as an example: She’s sporting both day- and nightwear, looking much cooler than if she’d picked only glossy items. Her white sandals over a pair of three-quarter-length black socks is an expert move—it’s like she’s wearing these really funky booties, adding more contrast to the black-and-white theme. Her sporty white shortalls over a sexy lace top take her look to another level, illustrating that balance I was talking about. Boyish versus girlie, sexy versus sporty, glossy versus casual: you name it. What matters is mixing it up.
Kristin’s was hanging out at Slippery Slope, by the way. Love that place. Finally a truly crowded dance floor in Chicago!
