Most people just buy Faberge eggs ($1.69 for a dozen at Walgreens right now, if you’ve got the coupon). But soon the lucky students at the University of Chicago will actually be able to read and study inside one, kinda: The new Joe and Rika Mansueto Library, which opens next week, “looks like a half-buried crystal Fabergé egg from the outside,” writes Angela Watercutter for Wired. Designed by architect Helmut Jahn, the library has 700 panels of glass and features a domed, 8,000 square-foot reading room.
