The Reader‘s annual fiction issue comes out December 24 (just in time for some relaxing holiday reading).
Submissions are being taken till November 10 at email@example.com. Stories of any length are welcome, but we probably won’t be using any 13,000-word pieces this year–or run 16 stories, as we did in our first outing, in 2000. That issue included entries by notables such as James McManus, Camden Joy, Gina Frangello, and Rennie Sparks of the Handsome Family. Here are the five excellent stories we ran last year. And here’s the 2006 issue.
We’re looking for good material and we want to see your stuff. Sending your piece in the body of an e-mail works best, but you can also send a link or an attachment. Please don’t submit work that’s been published elsewhere.
