Steve Krakow is one of the busiest people I know. On top of performing with the psych-rock outfit Plastic Crimewave Sound, the rarely convened but ridiculously huge Vision Celestial Guitarkestra, and who even knows how many side projects (avant-prog trio Moonrises, ambient duo Solar Fox, et cetera), he researches, writes, and illustrates the Reader‘s Secret History of Chicago Music, publishes the vertiginously deep Galactic Zoo Dossier magazine (and runs a companion Drag City imprint, Galactic Zoo Disk), and regularly draws caricatures of concertgoers at the Empty Bottle for five bucks a pop. He’s also the only person I’ve ever met whose Wikipedia entry describes him (accurately) as living in a “lair.”
